Einar was an old lighthouse keeper on Iceland’s rocky coast who polished the great lamp every evening for forty years. One bitter winter night, while trimming the wick, he discovered a tiny dragon — no bigger than his fist — curled inside the glass, its scales glowing like warm embers. The little dragon had secretly been living there for decades, breathing steady golden fire that powered the lighthouse beam through every storm. Einar and the dragon became friends — he left it scraps of smoked fish each evening, and in return the dragon’s glow grew so bright it guided three lost ships safely home that very winter. When Einar grew old, he passed the lighthouse to his granddaughter and whispered the secret, and she found the little dragon waiting — blinking its amber eyes — ready to keep the light burning for another generation.
